Security Political Analyst
The analyst will report dually to the Head of Office in Tanzania for direct management, and to the Head of Information Department in Nairobi for reporting work. The analyst will be fully integrated into the department’s functions and procedures, responsible for the production of reports, alerts, and briefings. Duties will include:
- Flash security incident alerting and backlogging via Salama Fikira BREATHE
- Research through open sources online and in written media on political and security matters in Tanzania.
- Report writing on weekly and monthly basis, and following security incidents and political developments of concern to clients.
Duration: Full time pending successful completion of three month trial period.
Requirements
Mandatory
- Degree in political science, security studies, international relations, journalism, or in other relevant field.
- Experience in analysis of security and political situation in Tanzania.
- Impeccable attention to detail in report writing, with an eye for formatting, grammar and spelling errors.
- Fluent in Swahili and English.
- Legally entitled to work in Tanzania.
Desirable
- Demonstrable interest in the security situation both on and offshore East Africa.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Experience in data collection and entry.
- Comfortable with geo-spatial analysis.

Internship
The Intern will report to both Junior & Senior Analysts within the SF Information Team. The Intern will be fully integrated into the department’s functions and procedures, assisting with the production of reports. Duties will include:
- Flash security incident alerting via Salama Fikira BREATHE
- Research through open sources
- Data handling and sorting of information by priority in order to support Junior and Senior Analysts
Duration: 3 months
Location: Salama Fikira HQ, Nairobi, Kenya
Remuneration: The intern will be remunerated to cover living costs and transport. International interns will be provided with a return flight from country of origin and secure accommodation.

The Position
With recent company expansion, SF is looking for a self-starter analyst, capable of working independently and with a keen interest in security across the region. The analyst will operationally report to the regional Managing Director, and Group Head of Information on technical matters.
Key Deliverables:
- Flash Alerting via SF BREATHE
- Daily Security Reports
- Monthly Regional Assessments
- Ad hoc threat assessments in support of live operations
Qualification Requirements:
- Degree educated to Master’s level
- Or, Bachelor’s degree in Security Studies, International Relations, Journalism, or similar
- Demonstrable interest in regional security, to include political, social and financial risk
- Fluent written and spoken English
- Computer literate – Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point & 365 suite
- Impeccable attention to detail, with an eye for formatting, grammar and spelling
- Already eligible to work in aforementioned designated location
Technical Requirements
- Stable internet connection with speeds ≥ 10 mbps – Speed test will be required
- Windows PC with minimum 2.0 GHz processor, 3 GB RAM and 40 GB free space
- Working webcam and audio headset
- Second monitor connected to PC – strongly recommended for multitasking
- Ergonomic chair, desk, mouse mat with wrist support and adequate lighting
- All personnel will be required to complete an individual work from home risk assessment
